GUARDIAN ADVOCATE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Charlotte Behavioral Health Care Crisis Stabilization Unit is in extreme need of Guardian Advocates (GA’s). GA’s will be appointed by the court to act as an informed decision maker for a person who has been deemed incompetent to consent to his or her own Mental Health Care and Mental Health Treatment. GUARDIAN ADVOCATE VOLUNTEERS:
Will serve on a voluntary basis as needed for patients who do not have a close family member willing or able to make medical and psychiatric treatment decisions on their behalf. GA’s are usually granted authority to provide or revoke consent for general medical and psychiatric medications.
GUARDIAN ADVOCATE VOLUNTEERS:
Will seek to provide informed decisions regarding patient’s treatment and protect the patient’s rights.
GUARDIAN ADVOCATE VOLUNTEERS
Are required to be trained in duties and submit to a background investigation. Estimated time monthly is 3-4 hours, depending upon client needs.
