Acceptance and Perseverance are two essential qualities for any family dealing with mental illness or any illness.
Recently, my 2 younger children received awards at school for exhibiting these leadership qualities. Every family surviving and living with any form of chronic illness deserves an award!
It is not always easy to accept a difficult diagnosis. It is not always easy to have to deal with any ignorant stigma attached with any diagnosis. Seeking treatment and counsel takes acceptance and perseverance.
A difficult diagnosis can be devastating to a family. It takes time to accept any changes this may mean in the family dynamic. It takes honest acceptance and on-going education of the particular challenges as well as perseverance on the road of recovery!
Acceptance and perseverance are crucial keys to each family keeping positive and working together as a team in reaching wellness goals! No matter what challenges mental illness may bring, It is very important to continue to look on the bright side and concentrate on what you and your family are able to do together. When we take the time to cultivate acceptance and perseverance, we also cultivate gratitude for what we do have and what we can enjoy together. Persevering together as family, friends, peers, we find a measure of peace and joy in whatever circumstances we may find ourselves.
Unexpected life events can be handled successfully if we use these as opportunities for personal inner growth of positive traits like acceptance and perseverance.
We can let any situation, circumstance or illness make us bitter or better. The choice is yours! Think about ways these 2 positive qualities can help you and your family today and tomorrow.
